Before You Get Started

With the exception of brand new Salesforce orgs, we highly recommend that all member organizations go through our testing flow to connect a sandbox to our staging environment so that we can sync test donations to the org. This way, you have the chance to review our logic first-hand and make updates to any settings as needed before going live. This ensures a seamless integration in production.

Testing the integration

  1. If your client is interested in testing the Salesforce integration, please fill out this form.
  2. Consultants should be aware that new Give Lively logins must be unique, so we advise using a new email address every time you want to create a login for a new account.
  3. Once the form is submitted, please contact your Technical Solutions Manager (TSM) to confirm that the form has been received. The Technical Solutions team will then review your submission and reach out with next steps.
  4. Your TSM will create a Give Lively test account that can be connected to a Salesforce Sandbox.
  5. Please note that when testing the integration using a Give Lively test account, we allow you to bypass downloading the app for the Give Lively test account/Salesforce Sandbox.
  6. Once the account is created and the Sandbox is connected, please do the following to check that the integration has successfully connected:
+ Log in to the Nonprofit Admin Portal.
+ Click “Organization Settings” in the menu on the top of the page.
+ Click “Integrations” in the tab on the left.
    + Click the “Salesforce” button.
  7. While we will automatically create a Salesforce Campaign for your Give Lively campaign donations, we advise that you review and customize a select few Donation/Opportunity record settings. To do this:
+ Log in to the Nonprofit Admin Portal.
+ Click “Organization Settings” in the menu on the top of the page.
+ Click “Integrations” in the tab on the left.
    + Click the “Salesforce” button.
    + Select "Data Mapping (Donations)”.
  8. Follow the same log-in instructions above if you would like to map Give Lively Core Profile donations to an existing Salesforce Campaign.
  9. Once the mapping settings are selected, you can create your own Give Lively campaigns and events within the test account.
  10. If you would like to see how donations will sync to Salesforce, navigate to one of your new Campaign Pages or Event Ticketing pages and make a test donation. You can use our test credit card number '4242 4242 4242 4242' alongside any name, valid future expiration date and security code.
  11. You can check to see if Opportunities successfully synced in Give Lively's Salesforce log section. You can also see any identified error messages.
  12. The Salesforce integration automatically syncs every hour at half past the hour (e.g. 1:30, 2:30 etc.), so you should see these Opportunities and Campaigns sync automatically. Any sync errors are reported in the donation sync logs, so feel free to make adjustments in your Salesforce settings to resolve them.
  13. If you would like the integration to sync sooner:
+ Click “Organization Settings” in the menu on the top of the page.
+ Click “Integrations” in the tab on the left.
+ Click the “Salesforce” button for the section dedicated to Salesforce.
+ Click the “Sync to Salesforce” button.
The ‘Sync to Salesforce’ button can be found via the ‘Organization Settings’ tab.

Integrating with your production org

Once you have checked the test integration and are ready to move forward with integration on production, please have your client confirm that we can provide you with a login in their Give Lively production accounts. The client can provide this confirmation in an email to your Technical Solutions Manager or you can send a screenshot with their confirmation.

To finalize the integration on production, please follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that the connecting user has all of these permissions and settings enabled.
  2. Install the Give Lively for Salesforce app via this link.
  3. Log in to the Nonprofit Admin Portal and visit members.givelively.org/salesforce.
  4. Click "Connect to Salesforce”.
  5. Once connected, our integration will sync every hour at half past the hour (e.g. 1:30, 2:30 etc.). To review sync logs and to control data mapping settings:
+ Within the Nonprofit Admin Portal, click “Organization Settings” in the menu on the top of the page.
+ Click “Integrations” in the tab on the left.
+ Click the “Salesforce” button for the section dedicated to Salesforce.
  6. Note that all historical Give Lively donations will sync into Salesforce once you enable the integration.
