This ability is only available on Give Lively donation forms as a controlled beta feature and under select circumstances.

Our careful attention to data privacy and security requires these curbs, as a mailing address is not technically required to complete a donation and we strive to keep the personal information we collect and transmit to a strict minimum.

We also know that the more information we request to complete a standard one-time donation, the lower the conversion rate. We suggest asking for a mailing address as a follow-up, post-donation question or through other data collection means.

Importantly, in cases where a mailing address may be necessary, the standard tools available for validating it can sometimes be finicky. In particular, some addresses, like PO boxes, are not easily validated using tools like the Google Maps API. We are actively exploring solutions to this issue.

Notwithstanding these considerations, if you would like to share why you desire to collect donor mailing addresses, send an email to membership@givelively.org and include the following details:

  • your nonprofit’s EIN
  • your email address
  • the reasons for adding this feature
